Another entire for a CGboost challenge. This time I focused on composition and lighting with the goal of creating a story. In that sense I consider this to be quite successful.
Starting out with paper sketches is now my preferred way to figure out the basic composition. Then I like to crate a room and place the camera and other background objects, that I go into more detail than I really should at that time, but the quick progress keeps me from procrastinating so I don't plan on changing it. Then I did the hard part with the girl and the monster and later I added the texture and lighting.
I am really surprised at how good the lighting came out, the contrast between yellow and blue makes the eye go from right to left, seeing the story in the correct order.
When I was sculpting the girl (she was supposed to be young), I realised just how much fundamentals I am lacking when It comes to anatomy and making hair look any good, thankfully the monster looks great and the girl is less visible.
